To the good people in Ukraine, please know that many in the world stand with you. You are in our hearts and minds daily. There is a group of Professional Mental Health Counselors in the United States that particularly understands the kind of strain you are bravely enduring now. We are the International Association for Resilience and Trauma Counseling, an Affiliate of the American Counseling Association. We hope we can share with you resources and human contact for healing in the near future. The days are long and the nights are darker now. We stand with you and hope for the sunrise that brings peace, security, grace, and encouragement for all of you. It will be a long road, and we hope that we can walk that road with you, when the time comes, in any way that we can. Ϲлава Україні!
"If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man's
life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility."
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Our turbulent times and the sustained interest of colleagues far and wide have convinced us to pursue Organization Affiliate (OA) Status as a precursor for a future new American Counseling Association Division dedicated to addressing trauma, building resilience, and advancing post-traumatic growth. The OA will be called the International Association of Resilience and Trauma Counseling (IARTC). Approval for OA status requires a list of at least 200 current ACA members. If you are interested in addressing trauma, advancing post-traumatic growth, and building resilience, please complete the associated one-question survey at this link—it will take about one minute to complete—we would love to have you as a founding member:

The IARTC OA will wholly embrace the ACA Code of Ethics and will advance the strategic goals and plans of the American Counseling Association (see: ACA Strategic Plan 2018-2021). It will be dedicated to building the epistemology and practice knowledge regarding resilience and trauma through a global lens. The collected signatures will be submitted to ACA as part of the OA application materials, and to follow-up with you later. The OA will move to become a new ACA Division once the threshold of 400 members is attained. Benefits of the future IARTC division will include a dedicated journal, webinars, conferences, newsletters, and opportunities to run for division leadership roles during elections.
